A Scavenger Hunt...

The girls went on a scavenger hunt today.
Or, as B called it, a treasure hunt.

I made a list of things for them to find and attempted to draw a picture of the item next to the name.
Please don't critique my artistic abilities;o)...
Then I taped it to the outside of  a Ziploc bag.

By having the picture next to the word, B was able to sound out the letters and have some idea of what she was looking for...

Mel had to find the perfect flower....or weed because really they were dandelions.

They pick about 20 a day and give them to me to put in water.
I am hoping that by the end of dandelion season, they will have picked all of them and our yard will be dandelion free!
Next on the list was a pinecone....
 "What's in there?"...
The last item was a bug.
Mel wanted no part in that.
She is NOT a bug person.
We have a very long summer ahead of us!

On the other hand, B loves bugs.
She found a bunch of ladybugs by a tree an played with them for about 30 minutes.
She had them crawling all over her.
She had one in her hair and I told her about it.  She said, "I know, he likes it there."
Mel decided to play ball with Tuff instead of looking for bugs...
 "Dwop it Tuff!"
 Tuff doesn't look very interested...

On a totally different note, I made this cake today.
Cris, one of The Real Farmwives of America, posted this recipe on her blog.  It is from the Gooseberry Patch Cookbook, Quick and Easy Autumn Recipes.  It is called "Holy Cow Cake" and it is sinfully delicious!!  You can click here for the recipe.

I may or may not have had two pieces today.
I may or may not have had a piece for dessert at lunch and my second piece may or may not have been 3 short hours later.
I may or may not have eaten the second piece while watching Dr. Phil and learning about one woman's struggle with drug addiction.
I may or may not have another piece tonight while watching Grey's Anatomy.

You may never know the truth!

Have a good day!!
