Christmas Ornaments...

Wow!  2 days until Christmas.  Hard to believe.
I am trying to enjoy these last few days because I know it will be over before I know it.
I am hosting my family today.  Christmas Eve finds us with another gathering.
Then we have 3 on Christmas day.

So in honor of Christmas Eve Eve, I thought I would share some pictures of our tree with you.

We put our tree up on December the 8th.  The day after Brad's birthday per his request every year.
Only two pictures were taken during the process and they were both taken by B...
My happy helper;0)...
I did manage to shoot this one afterwards...
Most of our ornaments have some type of meaning behind them.

The angel at the top was made by Brad's mom in 1983, I believe.
I may stand corrected, but I'm too lazy to take it down and take a look!

My little helper actually wanted her picture taken, but refused to show her face...

I have a holiday ornament made every year with the girls'/family picture on it...

I have several baking ornaments....

Each girl has a Santa boot.
They remind me of a boot my grandma always had hanging on her tree when I was younger.

The girls made these last year....
Love them!...
Brad's baby ornament...

Colleen bought the next two in Minnesota during Thanksgiving.
They are from the Snow Babies collection...

Brad's grandma painted this one...

This year I am adding these to my favorites list...
I hope you are all enjoying all the holiday season!!!!

Craft Time...

Craft #5 is the final Christmas craft.  Sorry if I bored you.

For this craft you will need to gather some leaves and small sticks.
I think any leaves will work, you just have to use your imagination.
We used oak leaves for the antlers.

Arrange the leaves to form a reindeer.
Glue onto paper.
Attach a pom pom for the nose. (My girls had to use red of course!)
Add googly eyes.

Mel's...
 B's...
Happy crafting everyone!!!!

Craft Time...

I found the idea for Craft #5 on Pinterest, of course.

They used copper and steel wire and wrapped it around cone shaped Styrofoam and made Christmas trees.
Why can't I think of simple things like this?

Anyhow, I liked how they looked but knew that copper wire was pretty pricey and it was a little too shiny for my taste.  I wanted something a little more rustic.

Can you guess what I used??

Baling wire.
Yep!  You read that right!  I know it sounds kind of "redneckish", but it was rusty and I didn't have to buy it.  We have a lot on hand at the farm.

Brad was biting his lip the whole time eager to help with this project....
All you do is wrap the wire around the cone.

I chose to make  have Brad make various sizes...

 Voila...
Only one more craft to go in the Christmas Craft Time Marathon!
Hold on to your britches....;0)

Craft Time...

Craft #4 in the Christmas Craft Time Marathon is another ornament.
What can I say, I love my ornaments and know that I will love them even more 20 years from now!

Paint a light bulb with glue...

Then sprinkle with white glitter and allow to dry.

Brad was a little worried that he might have to set like this all night...
Ha!  I'm not that mean!  I tied some red yarn to them and let them hang to dry.

Once they are dry you can start gluing on the eyes, nose, mouth and buttons as well as the arms...
We used beads for the eyes, mouth, and buttons.  You could also use black icing.

We used an orange pipe cleaner for the nose, but you could use orange icing.

We used sticks for the arms.  Hot glue is a must when attaching the arms.  A lot of it!

Love them!...

A Birthday Celebration...

Having a kid 6 days before Christmas is hard.
Not on the kid, but on the parents.
Not only do you have to shop for Christmas presents, but you have to shop for birthday presents.
Then find a time to have a birthday party in between every one's Christmas parties.
But, for the last 6 years, we have made it work and will continue to do so.

We celebrated Friday night with  close friends and family.
She chose a "peace sign birthday party".
That is a huge jump from the original plan which was a "Bigfoot birthday party".
Dang Judy Moody for filling my daughter's head with these silly ideas!
I didn't go all out on B's decorations this year like I did Mel's.
Please remember Mel's birthday is in September which is months before Christmas which allows more time for planning and a less stressed parent.

We had a peace sign cake, plates, and napkins...pink plastic ware and that was IT!!!
Signing Happy Birthday...

  Such a good little hostess...

Aunt Lauren gave her tattoos that were supposed to only go on their hands, but some little kid got the idea to put them on his face.  I'm not mentioning any names....

I didn't really care about the tattoos on the face until I remembered that we had two Christmas parties that weekend and church to go to.  In case you didn't know it....Baby Oil removes tattoos!
Mel's is supposed to be an eagle...I think.
At my family Christmas everyone thought she was a burn victim.  I could see where they might get that idea.
Her "real birthday" (as she calls it) was Monday so we had a small celebration that night.

On her wish list was an alarm clock "so she could wake up herself", yet that still hasn't happened.  She sleeps right through the alarm...
Anything camo...
A pink camera...
She was very specific on the type of camera she wanted.
She wanted on that was pink and that took videos.
I was able to purchase it online on Black Friday and it was 50% off!

She also wanted a Barbie fishing pole.
That idea got passed on to Grandma Colleen and Papaw Tom because of the whole camera deal.

And now she is 6.  Maybe I should have taken a turn blowing out the candles and made a wish for her to stay 5.
