A Grinch Birthday Party...

B turned 5 on Sunday.
Can you believe it?
I sure can't.
This was a hard birthday for me.
5 seems like such a big number.
She is excited because now she is the same age as Dustin and Abbie...classmates of hers.
She has been asking for two months if is was her birthday yet.

We celebrated with a Grinch party on Friday night with friends and family.
The themes for her parties are getting harder and harder.
It was so easy when she was 1, 2, & 3 and didn't know what was going on or didn't care.
Last year she wanted an Aladdin birthday. Well, Aladdin was released from the Disney vault about 5 years ago. So, that was a tough one to find decorations and invites for.

This year she said she wanted a "moose party". I have no idea where that idea came from and, luckily, I was able to talk her out of that one.
Then she decided to have a Hello Kitty party. Perfect. The supplies for that would be easy to find.
Then she changed her mid and said she wanted a Grinch party.
Since, her birthday is so close to Christmas, I feel like she gets cheated anyway, but that is what she wanted.
I looked and looked for Grinch party supplies that didn't involve Christmas.
Well, I didn't have much luck and I don't think B really cared. As long as the Grinch was the theme.

Oh, and remember the virus I got on my computer?? I have the Grinch to thank for that as well!

I ordered the birthday banner and my mother-in-law found Grinch items for the walls at a teacher supply store.
yellow and green plates...

Denise couldn't do the cake. She was too busy with college stuff and she had a wedding cake to make also. So, the cake was made by a lady in the burg. It was super yummy! Her sugar cookies are delicious too. The girls and I got to taste test one when we picked up the cake.

stockings were hung...

The wall clings came from Amazon...

At this point, I handed the camera off to Brad's sis.
B's BFF Margaret was there.
She also got to have her first sleepover at our house! Exciting stuff!

"Who's the birthday girl?"...

She got a little embarrassed when everyone started singing "Happy Birthday To You".

Patiently waiting. She doesn't look very happy.

These two girls have been at her side for the last two birthdays.
I hope the tradition continues.

She actually wanted to read the cards this year. Normally she just tosses them aside.
She is really growing up.

She got a lot of craft supplies, puzzles and games. The perfect gifts for her.

Grandma Colleen gave Mel a couple horse sticker books and those kept her occupied for most of the night.

Brad was on video camera duty...
