Bead Sun Catchers

As crazy busy as this summer has been, I've somehow managed to squeeze a craft in every now and then.  Not as many as I would like, but some nonetheless!   I saw the idea for bead sun catchers  on Pinterest, of course, and it sounded super easy so I knew it would be perfect to squeeze into our busy schedules.

You will need:

translucent pony beads (I also bought clear beads because there weren't any in the assorted colors package.)

cookie cutters

ribbon

drill

The first step is to place the cookie cutter(s) on a cookie sheet and completely fill the cookie cutter with the beads.  It doesn't matter if they lay flat or on their sides because they will melt together and it won't matter.  You can also use a muffin tin.

 Once you have filled the cookie cutters, put them in a 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes. (Please ignore my stained cookie sheets.  I have seen cleaning secrets for this very thing on Pinterest, of course, but really who has time for that?)

Once they sun catchers are cool, pop them out of the cookie cutters and drill a hole in the top.   

 Attach a ribbon and hang!

This picture has nothing to do with this post, but Mel never wants her picture taken but this day she asked me to.  You can see her Styrofoam giraffe in the left of the picture that she created all by herself.  She was pretty proud of it.  Glad that I captured it.  Mix-matched pajamas and all!
