Craft Time: Paper Straw Rockets...

I saw this idea somewhere and can't recall where and immediately knew I wanted to do it with the girls.  Then I thought, "This would make a perfect craft for the Fourth of July."  So I waited and we finally made them last week.
You will need:
paper straws
square envelope
tape
scissors
markers, tissue paper, stickers, whatever you want to decorate the rocket.

The first step is to seal the envelope then draw lines on the envelope like this...
I only had business sized rectangle envelopes and quickly learned that those wouldn't work because it would make the rockets too skinny.  Luckily I had some extra cards in the desk drawer that happened to come with square envelopes.  The only problem is now I have a bunch of cards with no envelopes!

Have you child (if they are old enough) cut along the lines on the envelope...
Cut off the bottom portion of the rocket to make a straight line like so...
Tape the sides together so only the bottom is open and start decorating...
We taped rectangle strips of tissue paper to the bottom of our rockets...

Insert the straw in the bottom of the rocket and let the fun begin...

  2. That looks like fun! I know C loves blowing the straw paper off her straw and once you do that you're done, so she's bound to love this!
