Only 4 more days until Halloween!
Are you excited?
Are you like me and Halloween isn't your favorite holiday?
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy it for the girls. I make it fun, but I am more of a Thanksgiving and Christmas girl. I like seeing the girls' faces light up when they put on their costume or come home and take inventory of all their goodies, but I look forward to the day after Halloween because on November 1st, the holiday season begins, for me.
I will start listening to Christmas music which drives Brad CRAZY! The girls and I will start creating our Thanksgiving and Christmas crafts and I will, inevitably, start my Christmas shopping.
So, in celebration of my not-so-favorite holiday, I will be sharing a Halloween activity with you from now until Halloween.
The other day the girls made pumpkin sun catchers. This past winter we made mitten sun catchers. Being the creative person that I am, I came up with the idea of making these. Aren't you impressed? ;0)
Draw a pumpkin on an orange piece of construction paper. Cut it out. Then cut the middle out of the pumpkin.
Lay the pumpkin onto a piece of contact paper, sticky side up...
Cut squares out of tissue paper. You can use any color you choose, but we used yellow and orange. I wish I would have bought black so we could make faces. Oh well...
Stick the tissue paper to the contact paper inside the pumpkin...
Layer another sheet of contact paper on top. Trim the edges. Punch a hole in the top and tie a piece of yarn or ribbon through it.
Ta Da...
Thanks goodness for photoshop! My windows were dirtier than I thought!
Did you put contact paper on the other side when you were done filling it? These look super cute, and easy!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! This will be perfect for my little guy. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love contact paper. It's amazing what you can do with that stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog. I might do a little more thinking and then do another gift post. Do you have any ideas you'd like me to include if I do? I don't like the video game thing either and am waiting as long as possible before we get into THAT!
@Andrea-I did put another layer on top. I left that out of the original post. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Thanks for stopping by Rhis Farm Family's Life.
ReplyDeletenow that is a neat idea...I might try that with little britches...
