Farming Community...

If you haven't voted for me for the Boot Blog Battle yet, head on over to The Real farmwives website and cast your vote!  Remember, by voting you are entered to win a pair also!!!!  Please and thank you!
**********************************************************************************

On Monday several farmers in our community came together to help out a fellow farmer.

The couple (Chuck and Jane)  in the picture below were eager to finish up their final harvest and begin enjoying retirement.
Their hired hand of 27 years passed away unexpectedly.

Phone calls were made and a date was set to help them harvest their crop.  Mother Nature didn't cooperate, so another date had to be set and what a beautiful day it was!

Around 23 people showed up with 5 combines, 3 grain carts, tractors, semis and augers.
Many of the farmers that came to help don't have their own crop in, but wanted to help their neighbor.
Count them.  There are five combines in this photo...

Brad's favorite picture!!!!...

The women fixed a fabulous meal of pulled pork and plenty of sides....

Everyone enjoyed a nice meal and as Chuck said, "We could have grabbed our sandwiches and kept going, but it's about the fellowship."

Everyone was eager to get back to the field, but I was nominated to take a group shot and they all LOVED me for it!!!!
It's a great farming community we live in!!!

Happy Thursday friends!

A Boot Battle Between the Farmwives...

I have decided to come clean with all of you.
I have a boot fetish.
There I said it and boy do I feel better about myself!
I think boots are a great way to display a person's personality because they come in all different types of styles and colors.
They are comfortable.
They are stylish and can be worn for dressing up or dressing down.
Do you want to know what my favorite part about boots is?
No shoelaces!

That's right!
I'm lazy and hate tying my shoes!
I'm a mom to two busy little girls so by the time I get them dressed and ready to go out the door, I like being able to just slip something on and go and still look fashionable.

So, when Nocona Boots approached all the farmwives about a boot blogging battle I knew that I wanted to participate!

A few of the other farmwives and I are in competition to see who can get the most votes and win a pair of boots of our choice!

I have these picked out....
I would love to add these lovely things to my shoe collection!
To view these boots and others please visit Shepler's!  You may just find yourself falling in love!  And remember, Christmas is just around the corner!  Why not add a pair of boots to your list?

Now, here is the best part!
Not only will you be helping me, you could possibly win a pair for yourself! That's a great deal if I do say so myself!

To win a pair of Nocona Boots for yourself please go to www.realfarmwivesofamerica.com and vote for me. If I get the most votes I'll win a pair of boots and one of our readers will be randomly drawn to win a pair for themselves!

Now go vote!!  Good luck to you!!

GIVEAWAY WINNER!!!!!!!!...

Wow!  I had a blast hosting my first giveaway.  I enjoyed reading all of your comments.  Some people start shopping as early as January, which makes me feel WAY behind.  While others sometimes wait until Christmas eve which makes me feel a little better about my current shopping status!;0)  Thanks, Jent!

Alright, let's get down to business.

The winner of the earrings from Starr Strung is...

NBowen who left comment # 23 :

I start shopping as soon as I see something that I know someone would like or could use--sometimes as early as the day after Christmas, but generally wait until January. I also try to get a few thigns at a time, spacing out the spending. I really try to stick to my lists and budget, and prefer to have at least the majority of the shopping done by Thanksgiving. I would love to win the earrings, and one pair (at least) would be a perfect gift for my niece who loves pearls. Thanks for the opportunity.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I would like to thank everyone for participating!!!!!!!!!  I will be emailing the winner shortly.

You will have one week to claim your prize.

The winner was picked at random via random.org.

Trick-or-Treat Excursion...

If you haven't already entered my earring giveaway, click here.  You have until this Friday to enter!

**********************************************************************************

Trick-or-Treating in the country is a lot different than in town.  We don't walk from door to door.  We hop in the car and drive for at least 5 miles before arriving at our destination.  You load up in the car, stop by one house, visit for a bit, then you are off too the next.  That is how it was when I was growing up and that's how it is now.  It wears a momma out and for that I would like to say sorry to my mom for all the exhaustion I caused her!

B was Princess Hello Kitty...
B never used to care about hair or clothes.  You would NEVER see her in a dress.  In fact, if we wanted her to wear a dress, we had to convince her that it wasn't a dress, but a long shirt.

Now, she will wear a dress.  She cares about her hair.  Everyday before school, I have to ask her 50 questions about how she wants her hair done.  Pony tail, Pig tails, Barrette, Side Pony, etc.  I longed for the day when she would let me pull her hair back, now it's kind of exhausting.  I guess the saying is true,  "Be careful what you wish for"!
And then there is Mel.  I think her feelings toward Halloween are a bit like mine.  She liked the idea of getting candy, but wasn't too sure about dressing up.  I took her shopping for a costume and tried to convince her that she should be a butterfly or ladybug.  I know she would have been adorable in either.  Her response to my suggestions: "I wanna be Mel."

She already had a Colts cheerleader outfit, a Colts bow, and cowgirl boots.  I ordered  some cheap Pom-Poms and we were all set.

I know I'm biased, but I think she was the cutest Colts cheerleader ever!....

We tried to get a cousin picture...

but the scarecrow wouldn't stand still...

A quick picture with Great Grandma before leaving for our next stop...

We visited 5 houses in 6 hours!  That may have been a record for us!

Today, because it's November 1st and that marks the beginning of my holiday season...
because the sun is shining....
