Mel's 2nd Birthday....

Mel turned 2 on Sunday.
We had her birthday party Friday night.
The day started with the girls painting a sign for the party.
B was like a little "birthday planner". She was super excited.

The finished masterpiece...

The theme for the party was horses....of course:)

She refused to cooperate so I could get a decent picture of her in her cute outfit...

The best I could get...

A watermelon fresh from our garden.
They were pretty small this year.
Anyone know of any good watermelon growing tips.
Maybe they needed more water??...

The cake turned out great.
My cousin always makes the cakes for the parties, but she is away at college now & her brother got married on Saturday and she made the cake for that...had rehearsal...and all the other fun wedding stuff. (Not sure why she couldn't have squeezed us in:)... so I had to find someone else.
After making a few phone calls, I made a decision. I was still a bit skeptical.
It was sooo good and it tasted a lot like Denise's...perfect!

Mel LOVED the cake.
Why wouldn't she though....it had a horse on it...

She blew out her candle like a pro...

Isn't she cute??...

Margaret thought it was yummy too...

Brad's mom got a pinata for the party...

After we stuffed it FULL of candy, we read the directions and you were only supposed to put 2 pounds of candy in it. We put FOUR pounds in it.

She wasn't too sure about hitting her beloved animal with a bat...

B had to try...

She insisted on closing her eyes because, "That is how you do it".

The presents...

Blogger refused to post these pictures in order...
Taylor took a swing a the pinata too...

Look at all that candy...& all the kids....

Every gift Mel opened, she said, "Wow."
She was very appreciative:)

She got a cowgirl hat, and two pairs of boots...

And this princess tent that took some definite team work to assemble...

And to answer Susan's question, she did get a horse.
In fact, three horses.
Probably not the same kind Susan was referring to, but they work.

On Mel's actual birthday, we ate supper at McDonald's then went to the park...

Then we came home and had our own little party...

This picture sums up how Mel felt about her 2nd birthday...
"Wow!"

The other two horses to add to her collection...
Thanks everyone for making Mel's birthday so special.
Thanks Lauren for taking most of the pictures in this post...although, I still somehow managed to only be in one:)

  1. So much fun! But I think she still needs a REAL pony. You will have to bring her to see PeeWee sometime!
