Haiti Update #5...

I feel like I should post an update although, nothing different has occurred. We are currently trying to find the coordinants of Fondwa. Although, Google Earth isn't being our friend and giving us that information. They don't even have Fondwa on their map. John Paul(Chantel's husband) recieved information today that a friend of his who serves in the military, is going to Haiti tomorrow. JP gave him information about the teams whereabouts. The local sheriff's department is in contact with the National Guard. It seems like we have so many connections right now so hopefully something will come together.
I have been subbing at the preschool class at church for Chantel. It is extremely difficult when they ask about her and when she is coming back. On Tuesday, we were able to tell them, "She will be back next week." Now, we don't know the real answer to that question and are just praying for her, and the other mission team members, safety and a safe trip home.
Pastor Valerie talked with the preschoolers today(this is a regular occurrence). Since she is the new pastor at our church, she pretty much just answered their questions. They informed Pastor Valerie that Miss Chantel was on a trip. They knew she went to Haiti and they were very much aware of the situation there. They knew of the earthquake, the damaged buildings, the fires. I was shocked that preschool age children knew this much. I couldn't hold back the tears.
I told B today about what was going on. She knew Grandma Colleen was going on a trip somewhere far away to help other people. I have been trying not to cry around her because we weren't ready to tell her anything. I received a phone call this morning from a concerned neighbor and the waterworks began. B crawled on my lap and wanted to know why I was crying. I felt like I needed to explain what was happening. I asked her if she remembered that Grandma Colleen was on a trip. She nodded her head in agreement. I then explained that something happened and it may be awhile before Grandma Colleen is able to come home because she needs to stay and help and that we need to pray to Baby Jesus to keep Grandma Colleen safe and all the other people in Haiti. I don't really think she understood everything, but I felt I needed to tell her something.
So, that is the update for now. It is so nice to have such a wonderful community and a great circle of friends and family for support!
