I got this idea when we were at our friends' house. Their little boy made one of these in Pre-school and when I see any craft that involves handprints, I swoon. I know that 25 years from know, I will enjoy going through the girls' craft totes and admiring their little handprints.

This is Mel's. ..

She cooperated for this craft...or "crap" as she calls craft time!
She just couldn't say no when this "crap" involved painting your hand and not getting in trouble for it!

This is B's...

She did NOT cooperate. She told me, "I don't feel like being messy today Mommy." That is something that NEVER comes out of her mouth. But, craft time is supposed to be creative so I went with her idea.

She drew the butterfly body herself then traced each of her hands for the wings.
Then she colored it in...

Since B "didn't want to be messy" that meant Mel was my model.
Normally, it is B that does something and then I make her "model" it so I can get a good picture.
Mel handled the modeling job like a champ!

First, have your child make a fist then paint the hand from the wrist up to the pinkie...

Then stamp away...

We did about three stamps in a row to create the body, but this will depend on the size of your child's hand.

Next paint one of your child's hand.
The whole hand.
This will be two of the wings...

Now paint the other hand for the other wings.
(We only used two colors for the wings, but you can do it however you wish!)

I didn't get any pictures of Mel stamping the wings. A two year old with a painted hand makes it kind of difficult to multi-task!

Next, paint the side of your child's hand from pinkie to wrist...

Stamp twice above the body for the antennas (once again, no picture for this step...I failed to multi-task...again! Just see the top picture for reference.)

Taking Meals to the Fields...

When the guys are in the fields planting, harvesting, spraying, fertilizing, etc. they like to have the meals delivered to the fields. If they are close to home, they will come in the house and eat, but if they are far away I take it to them.

At the beginning of the season I am a bit rusty, but by the end I have my groove back and have it down to a Science.

Everything is loaded in the Tahoe...

Plates....check!
Plastic ware....check!
Beverage of choice (on this particular day it was sweet tea)...check!
Cups...check!
Ice....check!
Paper towel (always keep a roll in the Tahoe that way I don't have to worry about packing napkins)....check!
Clorox Wipes (I have learned this is a necessity)....check!
Main Dish (this day it was Hungry Jack Casserole and Cottage cheese)...check!
Ranch dressing (another necessity in this family)...check!
Dessert...check!

Two cutie pies...check!...

Mel has been taking meals to the fields since she was about 2 weeks old!

Every. Single. Toy we own....check!

(Just kidding! I wish those were the only toys we owned! It would make picking up toys go a lot faster!)

The grub all set up and ready to be devoured...

The guys break for a short time and then it's time to go again...

I keep dropping the hint to Brad that we should get a big van and gut the inside. We could put a table and chairs in it. It would be nice if we could rig it so it would have a refrigerator in it so I wouldn't have to pack a drinks all the time. I could also keep a constant supply of paper towels, plates, plastic ware, etc. Oh how nice it would be not to have to pack up all that stuff. Just throw in the main dish and the dessert, strap the girls in and go!

A while back we were at a semi dealership and they had an ambulance for sale.
I said, "That would be perfect! It already has the seating. We would just have to add the table and refrigerator!"

And then, if I get the van....or ambulance...I could start a catering business. In the Spring and Fall I could drive around the area and feed the local farmers!

Hey a farm girl can dream, right?

Easy Peasy Strawberry Shortcake...

Today because it's hot.

Because we are finished planting.

Because my garden is flourishing.

Because I like you guys.

And because it is strawberry pickin' season, I am going to share my secret strawberry shortcake recipe with all of you!

Now, it's top secret so only you can use it!

Got it?

Just kidding.

Pass it on because all I use is this...

That's right!

Flip that box over and on the back is the recipe for Strawberry Shortcake.
Easy Peasy and Simply Scrumptious!

Mix together the Bisquick mix, milk, sugar, and melted margarine...

The recipe says to make individual shortcakes, but I just pour the batter in one pan and bake it at 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

The end result...

Simply satisfying, scrumptious, easy peasy....the perfect summer dessert!

(The recipe makes an 8x8 pan, but I usually double it and bake it in a 9x13 pan for the same amount of time)

Now go buy a box of Bisquick!!!!
