Peppermint Play-Doh...

I am still posting about Christmas.
Surely I am not the only one in blog land still posting about Christmas.
This is the last Christmas themed post. Then on to the new year.
I think.

The girls and I made peppermint Play-Doh.
It was supposed to have glitter in it, but I forgot to buy some.
Imagine that. I forgot something!
They rolled out the Play-Doh...

Then used Christmas cookie cutters.
Mel would only use the star.
Just like she would only eat the star sugar cookies.
Stars and horses, those are her favorite things....i guess.

B had to make one of everything.

The Play-Doh is really red, but the photos make it look kind of orange.
I blame it on the reflection from my table......or maybe it's just bad photography;)

I don't think I posted it before, so here is the recipe for homemade Play-Doh.
1 C. flour
1/2 C. salt
1 T. cooking oil
1 T. cream of tartar
1 C. water
Food coloring of your choice
Add-ins of your choice ( spices, glitter, etc.)
Stir ingredients together well.
Over medium heat, cook the dough, stirring constantly until it forms a ball. ( I recommend using a nonstick pan, if you have it. If not, be prepared to soak and scrub.)
When it starts to pull away from the sides of the pan and most of the wet looking parts look dry, remove it from the pan.
Knead until smooth.
If it feels sticky, you can add a little more flour into it.
Cool.
Store in a covered container or Ziploc bag.
Our next Play-Doh project will probably be Valentine's Day. I am trying to think of spices I can use for that. Anyone have any suggestions?
