She's 8...

Eight years ago today, at 9:47 pm, Miss B decided to finally make her appearance into the world.  The labor was loooong.  She refused to enter the world on her own, so I had to be induced.  At around 8:00 the doctor told me that if things didn't progress any faster, I would have to have a c-section.  I did NOT want a c-section.  Finally at around 8:30, she decided it was time and an hour and fifteen minutes later it was over....or was just beginning..however you want to look at it.

If someone would have told me eight years ago that time would go by this fast, I would have laughed at them.  Actually, people did probably tell me that but I was too tired to listen.  Our first several few months of parent hood was definitely not a walk in the park. I remember waking in the night while in the hospital and I could hear a baby wailing in the nursery.  I thought to myself, "Oh!  I feel sorry for that baby's mom."  Yep!  It was mine!  We battled colic, number 2 problems, problems spitting up, sleepless nights and days.  The girl seriously would not sleep!  There were several mornings when either Brad or I would hop in the car with B at 2 am and go for a ride around the block just so she would fall asleep.  Then we would quietly walk in the house and place her car seat in the crib and let her sleep.  What were we thinking?  I guess we were desperate!  I tell myself that she wasn't an easy baby, but really I think we were just first time parents who didn't know what the heck we were doing!

So, even through all  this the last 8 years have flown by!  I am so proud of the smart, caring, energetic, silly girl she is growing up to be.  Happy birthday, B!  I hope you rock this year!!

  1. Reading this was a mirror to our own dilemma 34 years ago with our daughter. Everything you said, we did, except the only way she would sleep would be laying on one of our chests. Doctor tried everything, but finally realized she was allergic to regular formula (including my milk) and we changed her to soy milk and problem solved. THANK GOD!!! She is now mom to three boys and a darling little girl. So glad your story had a happy ending. :-)
