Mel, B, and the Calves...

Our girls are true farm girls and Mel seems to love animals more than B does(which is A LOT!!) I just happened to have my camera the other night and captured these sweet pics...

And B does not match again!! Her pink shorts got wet so she put blue ones on instead. Just wanted to make note of this so you didn't think I actually dressed my kids like this!!:0)

What we have been up to the last few weeks...

The first two pix were taken after a long(and hot!) day at the steam show.....well for Brad and B anyway. Mel wasn't feeling well in this photo...

We washed the Mule. It was in dire need of a good scrubbing. Since the steam show is so close, we drive it back and forth, and I didn't want to be seen in it unless it was clean. I know, I'm awfully picky!!:0)

Mel watched from the warmth of the sun room. Who knew that it would be 56 degrees in August?!

My hydrangea (well, one of them) is in bloom...

Our sweet corn is ready!!!!Yay! We froze 36 quarts(i think) on Sunday. Now, if I could just get my tomatoes to turn red!

Mel is learning to use a spoon...

And one day I walked in the toy room and found this...

The Zoo...

Last week we went to the zoo. I didn't take very many pictures because it was a little crowded. B had her heart set on getting a stuffed ostrich. I told her she could get one at the end of the day if she behaved herself. She behaved, so we went to the gift shop to get her ostrich. We didn't see any, so I asked one of the clerks if they had any ostriches. He said, "No, we are out. They are so popular that we can't keep them in stock." Who knew that something as ugly as an ostrich would be so popular. She settled for a seahorse instead.

Mel's rash...

Mel woke this morning in a MUCH better mood, but her rash had spread to her face...
The rash should disappear in 3-4 days. It doesn't hurt, it just looks really bad.

Relieved and Frustrated...

I just got home from taking Mel to the Dr. for her second round of shots for her ear infection. The nurses noticed that she had a different rash then yesterday, so they wanted the Dr. to see her before they gave her the antibiotic. The Dr. said her ears look better, still some fluid on them, but the redness has decreased. She now thinks that she has Roseola. She said that when kids get high fevers the blood vessels in their ears enlarge and may make them appear infected. She put her on another oral antibiotic for 5 days. I am relieved that she doesn't have an ear infection yet frustrated because I feel like no one really knows what is wrong with my baby. Hopefully this is the last antibiotic she has to take!

An Update on Mel...

We just got back from taking Mel to the Dr. She has been sick for the last month. We took her to the ER two weeks ago and found out she had an ear infection among other things. After taking Amoxicillin for the prescribed ten days she acted much better. A couple of days later she started getting a fever and was fussy, so we decided to take her back to the ER on Saturday. She still had an ear infection so they prescribed another antibiotic and advised us to follow up with her pediatrician. I called this a.m. and they wanted to see her today. They said she still has a lot of fluid in her ear and the antibiotic that the ER prescribed was the strongest oral antibiotic that they prescribed so we had to resort to shots. She gets a shot in each leg for the next three days. On Wednesday, after the last round of antibiotics are given, they will check her ears. They said it may take up to two months for all the fluid to drain off. If the shots don't work, then we will have to see an ENT and possibly have to get tubes. This is the first ear infection she has had and they said that it is the severity and because it has lasted so long that they may want to consider tubes. We hope the shots work.......we are ready for happy-go-lucky Mel to return!

World's Longest Hopscotch Board...

Okay, so I'm pretty sure it didn't break the world record of being the longest hopscotch game, but it was long. It started out as just 10 squares. Then B wanted more, so I added ten more which made twenty. Then she wanted more and I was out of room to go forward, so I had to go backward to -20. It stretched the length of our porch. Let me tell you, hopscotch is a great workout!
