If you've been following along with this little blog of mine for some time then I probably sound like a broken record to you when I say that whenever I see a craft that involves hand prints or footprints, I swoon. I think of it as a moment frozen forever in time. Kind of like a photograph. I can always look back and remember how small their hands or feet used to be. So, when I saw this craft, I immediately knew I wanted to make it...
First I painted an 11x14 canvas orange. You can use whatever color you like!
Allow the paint to dry, then paint the bottom of the kids' feet with white paint. I preferred to paint them rather than having them dip it into the paint so that the paint wasn't "gloppy" on the canvas. Once the footprints are dry, then add eyes and a nose. I used a small paintbrush for this step.
At this point, I thought I was finished with the canvas, but I thought the background looked kind of blah, so I added some black dots with a circular sponge brush that I found in the craft department at Wal-Mart. Every once in a while I would have one of the dots run off the side to add some more dimension. Then I added the year on the bottom right corner because, while I would like to think I will remember the year we did this, let's be honest...I won't!:)
Now, I have something to hang on my wall for Halloweens to come and I will always remember how small the girls were. This canvas came in a two pack and I'm already making plans for a Christmas canvas! Christmas is only two weeks away, ya know! Not that I'm counting or anything:)
