Peanut Butter Sheet Cake...

Last week I posted this on Facebook:" We had the most unhealthy lunch today.  We had cubed steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, and peanut butter sheet cake."

A couple people inquired about the Peanut Butter Sheet cake and I told them I would post it on my blog.  I have a ton of other recipes to share, but bumped this one up on the list since their seemed to be an interest in it.  It is by no means nutritious or fat free and I'm okay with that!  It has tons of butter and powdered sugar in it.  Yum!

I found the recipe on Pinterest, but it originated from Tasty Kitchen.

Mix the sugar, baking soda, flour and salt.  (That cute little hand stirring just makes this recipe that much sweeter!)...

My little helper decided that the beater was easier to stir with....
In a pan, bring water, butter, and peanut butter to a boil.
Add to the flour mixture then add milk, eggs, and vanilla.
Mix well then add to a jelly roll pan or large cookie sheet.  I guess I forgot to photograph this step!

Bake the cake and let cool.

Once the cake is cool, make the icing!!!!!!!!!!

In a pan bring the butter, peanut butter and milk to a boil.
Reduce the heat and add the powdered sugar.

Spread on top of cooled cake.
Tip:  While pouring the icing, try to distribute as evenly as possible because the icing thickens quickly which makes it harder to spread.  I also added a smidge more milk to the icing (maybe another tablespoon) because it seemed a bit too thick for my liking!

Enjoy!....

1 tsp. baking soda
2 C. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 sticks butter
1 C. water
1 C. peanut butter
1/2 C. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Icing

1 stick butter
1/2 C. peanut butter
6 tsp. milk (additional if icing seems to thick add tsp. at a time)
1 lb. powdered sugar

Combine sugar, baking soda, salt , and flour and set aside.
In a sauce pan, bring butter, water and peanut butter and bring to a boil.
Pour over flour mixture.
Add eggs, vanilla, and milk.
Mix well.
Pour in jelly roll pan or large cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

Icing: Bring butter, peanut butter and milk to a boil.   Reduce heat and add powdered sugar.  If icing seems to thick add more milk by the teaspoon.
Pour icing evenly over cooled cake.
Enjoy!

Down Goes The Silo...

On Wednesday the silo came down.

We haven't used it for the last year or so.  We have started filling silage bags like the one below...

We think the bags are more efficient.  Just a personal preference.  We don't have to wait a day for the silage to settle once the silo is full, then go out and chop another load.  You don't have to level the silage.

The unloader broke last year and the upkeep on the silo was getting to be too expensive.

So yesterday was the day and we said goodbye to the old skyscraper.

The tractor pulled the blocks out from under the silo while the Dodge guided the silo in the right direction as it was falling. If you look closely, you can see the cable in front of the truck. We wanted to make sure it didn't fall on the cattle barn.  That would have been ugly.  All the Dodge fans are loving this picture I'm sure.

Brad took a video of it so maybe we can sell it to Dodge and they will make a commercial from it and we will make a lot of money.

Okay, enough daydreaming....back to the silo demolition.

It only took about 20 seconds for it to reach the ground...

A pile of dust...

Now the clean up process begins.

The metal will be hauled to the local scrap yard and recycled.

Here is the video.....

Sugar Cream Pie...

Did you know that yesterday was National Pie Day?  Yep it was!  Thanks to my friends at Two Maids a Milking for making me aware of this!  So in honor of National Pie Day I am sharing my Sugar Cream Pie recipe with you and also linking up to Two Maids a Baking.

I'm sure all of you have some sort of sugar cream pie recipe, or maybe you make this exact same one.  This one has never failed me so I will continue to use it.  I hear a lot of people say that they never make sugar cream pie because it never sets up.  I think it all depends on boiling time.  My MIL actually gave me this recipe and it is so easy to make.  In fact, I have it memorized!

Combine your sugar...
And cornstarch in a saucepan...

Try to get as many lumps out as you can because the lumpier the mixutre the lumpier the pie...
Check out my new spoons I ordered from That's My Pan when my sorority was doing a fundraiser...
Slowly pour in the milk while stirring constantly.  I prefer to use whole milk.  Sometimes I use milk straight from our family's dairy farm! (Don't judge!  It is amazing.)  I have found that whole milk makes a much creamier pie, but you can use whatever your little heart desires...
Add in a a teaspoon of vanilla and a stick of butter......
Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring constantly.  Allow to boil for 3-4 minutes....
Pour into a prebaked pie shell.  Sprinkle with a little cinnamon and nutmeg.
Enjoy!...

A Wrangler Giveaway!!...

Oh how I love Wranglers.  Especially when they are on Miss Mel's bottom...
Another reason I like Wranglers is because they are tough.
When you live on a farm you need a brand of jeans that is durable and can stand up to a lot of wear and tear.

So when Wrangler approached the Real Farmwives of America about this giveaway, I jumped on it like a fly to poo!
We currently have four pairs of jeans lying on the floor in the bedroom that are either waiting to be patched or will be cut up and used for patch material....

Each time a pair of jeans gets torn or is deemed unsafe to wear on the farm, then that pair is added to the "patch pile" and my time in the laundry room increases.

So a new pair of Wranglers in Brad's drawer meant one less day that I would have to do laundry through the week.

These jeans have definitely passed the "wear and tear test"...

And they keep me and my washing machine happy!

Would you like to win a pair of Wranglers for the man in your life?
I knew you would, so go to The Real Farmwives of America and enter to win!

While Wrangler did provide me with these jeans the opinions and photos expressed here are all my own.
